Autogenics Info 101
Autogenics was developed by the German psychiatrist Johannes Schultz. He first published his method in 1932, and it is based upon Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR). Even though Schultz based his method upon PMR, autogenic training has far more potential and greater benefits than simple relaxation. Relaxation is the first step really, the value of being able to relax is well known, Autogenics is a method of relaxation that gives focus and leads to focused results designated by the autogenics practitioner.
Finding a comfortable place is the first step to being able to relax in any context. In order to practice Autogenic Training you must start with comfortable clothing, a location where you will not be disturbed, and as little as 10 minutes to practice your routine. As you learn Autogenics and practice the autogenic training methods you will be come increasingly more proficient. This proficiency in autogenic methodology will help you be able to relax more easily not only during training sessions but also in everyday life. Autogenics is a great strategy to leading a relaxed and healthier more fulfilling lifestyle.
Proficiency in Autogenic Training will allow you to address a wide variety of issues, and create positive change for yourself. Some claim that addicitions, unwanted habitual behavior, anxieties and stress can all be adequately resolved with autogenics. It is important however, that when dealing with true mental and physical illness one should consult a qualified doctor, however autogenic methods could be a viable solution. Autogenics can also be used to promote healthy habits and desired physical and mental states as well.
During a session of autogenic training, you will train your mind and body to a specific result. Through the use of sequenced visualizations the autogenic practitioner will induce a deep state of relaxation in the body. Once the autogenic state is induced a serious of visualizations are used to create psychological gravity for the desired change, and finally autosuggestion or affirmations are used to command the subconcious to help affect the desired change. It is very important that one must be highly proficient at inducing the autogenic state before moving onto the second visualization state and the affirmations. The potential for snapping out of the autogenic state if you are not securely relaxed will be very high.
